How often should a urinary catheter be changed?
Usually every four to twelve weeks depending on the type and on whether there is a history of blockage or infection. We will set the interval with your doctor and remind you when it is due.
Can you teach us to manage it ourselves?
Yes, and we encourage it. Most families can safely handle routine flushes and bag changes once they have been shown properly, and we stay available for the changes that need a nurse.
